Limblifter materialized "inside an abandoned meat locker, amidst the hooker and drug infested Yaletown district of Vancouver" in 1996 while brothers Ryan and Kurt Dahle took some time away from their full-time gig, Age of Electric.
Linking up with bassist Ian Somers, the band practiced just ten times before they laid down Limblifter in a four-day studio stint.

2016 marks the the 20th anniversary of Limblifter's self-titled debut album that spawned three high charting singles with Tinfoil, Vicious and Cellophane, as well as garnering three Juno nominations.

Pride March for Equality     Update: New Route

Beginning at the E.A. Friesen park, adjacent to the Jake Epp Library, a Pride march down the streets and sidewalks of Steinbach is planned to demonstrate to Steinbach and area that individuals who identify as LGBTTQ* are equally deserving of respect and inclusion.

We will march to publicly state that there are many people who are unabashedly committed to walking alongside all people in the LGBTTQ* community until it is always safe to do so on their own.

Let's support these folks on their first ever pride parade. I think "It's worth the trip." If people want to carpool let me know and I will try to sort that out.  ~ Jeff Stapleton

#love is love is love

49 people were killed and over 50 injured during the worst mass shooting in U.S. history at a gay nightclub in Orlando. It was an attack on the LGBT community, an act of hate carried out with a gun. Hatred comes in many different forms. But there's no reason why those filled with hate should have a gun.

Demand Congress take action to prevent gun violence in America, by:
Making it illegal for people convicted of violent hate crimes to buy or possess guns
Make it illegal for suspected terrorists to legally buy guns
Require a background check for every gun sale
Use this form to sign our petition asking Congress to disarm hatred and keep guns out of dangerous hands.

Only a few candidates have stepped up on gun violence.
No more lists.

Lyric Theatre at Assiniboine Park, Winnipeg, Manitoba

The Winnipeg Humane Society's annual walkathon - The Fairmont Winnipeg Paws in Motion - is Winnipeg's largest pet-friendly celebration of the wonderful bond between animals and the people who love them.

Over 3,000 people and 1,000 animals will gather in the sunshine at Assiniboine Park on Sunday, June 26, 2016, to show off the joys of animal companionship.

This event is a promise that we at The WHS make to the animals of Manitoba. We promise them that we are all working and walking towards a future where no dogs, cats, or critters need to suffer from hunger, homelessness, or neglect. We believe all animals deserve to live a happy life with a loving family.

Join us by registering today and start working towards your fundraising goals.
All money raised helps over 8,500 animals the WHS cares for each year.

12 hours...One guy...A couple of guitars…One goal...$20,000, A Refugee Fundraiser
Many musicians, and hopefully Narwhals will crown the event.

The refugee family expected in September 2016 is now arriving in mid-June. The family of 5 from Afghanistan was sponsored several years ago by the late Jim Wolfe. When Jim died the Anglican Diocese of Rupert's Land became responsible for this family.

I will play 12 hrs of guitar, banjo, dulcimer, mandolin, more guitar(s), whatever, with the sincere hope of inviting excitement, creative and imaginative responses, and enjoy good times with one another, so that we might generate between $20,000 and $25,000.

Richard III starring Debbie Patterson
We provide chairs and you follow from scene to scene.

Richard will be played by Debbie Patterson, an artist with MS whose real life struggle will lend her a unique insight into Richard’s own struggles.

What do you do when you’re born disabled and your mother hates you for it? When your brothers see you as only good for menial tasks despite your obvious sensitivity and intelligence? When you’ve fought through 18 years of a bloody civil war? What do you do when your brother finally becomes king? You turn your gaze to the family and the culture that taught you to crush your conscience and abandon your humanity, and you show it just what it is to suffer.

We’re examining Richard as an evil that’s been created by the twisted gaze of those who look at his body. As the play progresses, his disability becomes contagious – he damages or destroys everyone who stands in his way. By the end, he is surrounded by a chorus of the damaged and the dead.

Beer raffle tickets available at our shows, $5 each, to win $500 worth of beer from around the world.
Better Than Baba's will be a the St. Norbert Ruins after the 2:30 pm matinee and before the 7:30 pm evening show on June 11 and 25 from 5 - 7:30 pm. Their perogies are delicious!

Jenn's Furry Friends Rescue is a registered and incorporated non-profit organization. Started in 2012 to help rescue dogs, cats, and other furry creatures, it is run by a passionate volunteer base dedicated to helping unwanted and homeless animals get connected with their forever families. As we do not have a "bricks and mortar" building the way some shelters do, we rely on the assistance of animal lovers in the Winnipeg area to provide temporary housing for these animals.

We are always looking for fosters to provide loving temporary homes for our rescues. If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, please fill out an application or email.

We have been in an intake freeze for a couple of months now due to growing vet bills. While I'd like to say they are slowly going down, I can't. Rusty is still baffling the vets with his anemia and odd blood work. Scamp is being treated for mange and Mindy is about to begin her heartworm treatment. We desperately need help. Thank you ~ Jenn and team
