Our goal is to rescue and care for abused / neglected / abandoned horses. When horses are ready, we place them in a carefully-screened, loving adoptive home. When re-homing is not an option, we provide a long-term home for horses.
We love horses and want to help neglected and abused horses see what a life with love and compassion is like!
Southwinds has reached maximum capacity for horses but with your help, we hope to care for more horses that need us.
You can do your part by donating money, supplies or volunteering your time.

We are looking for volunteers to help with: hoof care, feeding, haying, mucking, cleaning, farm maintenance, watering, and grooming. We are also looking for individuals who have computer skills and fundraising experience, and riders to assist in retraining horses.
Our sponsorship program allows supporters to either sponsor one or several horses. We also need livestock related items and administrative supplies.

Southwinds Horse Rescue Inc. is a registered Canadian charity (Manitoba).

Scott Thompson, a Canadian comedy hero!
After being discovered by SNL’s Lorne Michaels in the late eighties, "The Kids in the Hall" television series ran from 1988 to 1995 on CBC in Canada, and on HBO and CBS in the United States. After "The Kids" left television in 1995, Scott and the boys went on to write and star in their own feature film “Brain Candy”.
