Carol Shields Festival of New Works: Colleen Murphy

May 16 - 18

Prairie Theatre Exchange invites everyone to explore new creations in
the Carol Shields Festival of New Works.
The 3-day Festival kicks off with an eclectic Gala Night.
All events are admission by donation,
except for the Gala which costs $25 and includes a catered post-show reception.
Tickets can be ordered by calling PTE Box Office at 204-942-5483.

Governor General Award winning playwright, Colleen Murphy is the keynote speaker at the Gala.  She will talk about “Love and Rage”.
Pig Girl by Murphy will be read on May 17, starting at 9 pm.
A girl tries to escape from a serial killer as the girl's sister and an Officer attempt to rescue her.  It relates to the Vancouver-area murders of women.

Murphy’s work was seen on PTE’s stage with the drama, The December Man, about a young man who was asked to leave the classroom during the Montreal Massacre.

The Gala will also feature a new 9-minute ballet by Bruce Monk with RWB School dancers
and a new piece from Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers.
Five mini-plays by PTE’s Playwrights Unit will be read at the Gala
and at noon on Friday in the PTE Mainstage.
Keri Latimer (singer with Nathan) will bring her own acoustic talents to the stage.
