A conversation between composer Dorothy Chang and the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra’s own Anne Manson. The music of Dorothy Chang is characterized by an emphasis on dramatic intensity and expressive lyricism, with a more recent interest in interdisciplinary works involving video, imagery and movement.

Pimachiowin Aki Cultural Landscape Atlas: Land That Gives Life

The Atlas was created to tell about the proposed Pimachiowin Aki UNESCO World Heritage Site through a journey of maps, images and stories. Encompassing 33,400 square kilometres of land and water in Canada’s boreal shield, Pimachiowin Aki is the ancestral home of the Anishinaabeg (Ojibwe).
Iain Davidson-Hunt is an Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba.
There will also be a presentation by Sophia Rabliauskas, Spokesperson for the Pimachiowin Aki Corporation.

Margaret Mitchell’s Gone With the Wind: A Bestseller’s Odyssey from Atlanta to Hollywood

Odyssey tells how Mitchell’s story was written, marketed, distributed, and otherwise groomed for success in the 1930s — and how the savvy measures taken by the author, her publisher, and her estate ensured its longevity. In conjunction with the world premiere of a new Canadian stage version of Gone With the Wind, Wiley will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the special role Canada played in the book’s original copyright and at the 45-year history of Scarlett’s career before the footlights.

The Winnipeg South Centre Federal Liberal Association invites you to join them for an open policy forum on the topic of Foreign Investment and Protection Agreements (“FIPA”) and the foreign purchase of Canadian businesses, particularly in the resource sector.
