Hollaback! 2012 Winnipeg Street Harassment Survey

Hollaback! is dedicated to ending street harassment using mobile technology.
The deadline for surveys is July 15.

We will also be holding a workshop and helping community women fill out surveys at:
West Central Women's Resource Centre
Tuesday, July 10, 3:30 - 5 pm

Please contact Jodie Layne, 204-891-2369, if you have any questions.

This survey will help show us the types of harassment that are most common and places where harassment are most prevalent, so we can advocate for change.  We can provide printed copies for your agency and will collect them when they are complete.

Street harassment is one of the most pervasive forms of gender-based violence.
But it is rarely reported, and it’s culturally accepted as ‘the price you pay’ for being a woman or for being gay.
At Hollaback!, we don’t buy it.
Sexual harassment is a gateway crime that makes gender-based violence Okay.
There is a legal framework for sexual harassment and abuse in the home and at work, but when it comes to the streets, nothing.
The explosion of mobile technology has given us an opportunity to end street harassment, and the opportunity to take on one of the final new frontiers for women’s rights around the world.
By collecting women and LGBTQ folks’ stories and pictures in a safe and share-able way, Hollaback! is creating an initiative to end street harassment.

Hollaback! breaks the silence that has perpetuated sexual violence internationally, asserts that any and all gender-based violence is unacceptable, and creates a world where we have a response.
