Cooking With Cattails l Wellness Day


July 8: 1 to 3 pm
Learn how to recognize, harvest, prepare and cook this common plant 
with Shawn Brandson from Promenade Café and Wine in Winnipeg.

The fee for this hands on workshop is $20 per person and includes all materials.
Registration is required by Friday July 6.

You may know cattails as the typical wetland plant, providing cover for aquatic birds 
and food for muskrats. 
But did you know cattails are good for you?
Cattails are a good source of iron and phosphorus, and a very good source of dietary fiber, vitamin K, vitamin B6, calcium, magnesium, potassium and manganese.

Meet the Interlake Community Wellness Team who will help you take the pulse of your current health state and provide the tools to improve it. 

Wellness is generally used to describe a healthy balance of the mind, body and spirit that results in an overall feeling of well-being.

The Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre will be offering a variety of workshops throughout the day including: 
chair yoga sessions with Sue Williams at noon and 2:00 pm 
Zumba classes at 1:30 and 3:00 pm with Claudia Chernitsky
The Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre is located 20 minutes north of Winnipeg on highway 67 between highways #7 and #8.
