From the Middle Ages to Manitoba

Virtuosi Concerts and Camerata Nova co-present
From the Middle Ages to Manitoba
with internationally renowned baroque soprano Maria Luz Alvarez
and string players from the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.

8 pm on May 11 and May 12, and 3 pm on May 13
Convocation Hall, Wesley Hall, 515 Portage Avenue, University of Winnipeg

Tickets: adults & seniors $30, students $15
available by phone through Virtuosi (786-9000), Camerata Nova (918-4547),
at McNally Robinson Booksellers and at the door of each concert.
This concert offers $5 eyeGO to the Arts tickets for high school students.
Seating is rush.

The concert is based on the theme of pilgrimage to shrines, within oneself, artistic or across centuries. Conductor Ross Brownlee and early music specialist Douglas Kirk have selected songs of mystery from medieval Spain, glorious large works by Handel, Gombert and Gabrieli, and strong introspective works for string quartet and choir by Manitobans Ken Nichols and Andrew Balfour.

Throughout there is variety of performance: solos, duets, choir alone, strings alone and full on double choir and strings.

It will be held in the newly restored Convocation Hall, and hosted by the President's Office, with Dr. Axworthy bringing personal greetings on Friday night.
