You have to tell Them, i'm not a Racist | Divya Mehra

La Maison des artistes visuels, 219, boulevard Provencher
February 9 to March 8

Mehra takes what is current in her life and makes it the source for her art production. She uses her life as a measure of race relations within a larger context. The viewer is invited to see things her way, through the lens, where tensions run high, interpersonally and interculturally. - Cathy Busby

Divya Mehra - BFA Honors University of Manitoba, School of Art, Winnipeg, MB;
MFA Columbia University, School of the Arts, New York, NY.

Mehra's practice draws from experiences of displacement, cultural conventions, and hybridization, and infuses a biting wit in the execution of her projects. Her work investigates the construction and misrepresentation of cultural identity while making reference to layered divisions and the disparity and exploitation of power.
She has had additional solo exhibitions and screenings at ArtSpeak, Vancouver, BC; Platform: center for photographic + digital arts, and Plug In ICA, Winnipeg, MB.
She currently divides her time between Winnipeg, Delhi, and New York.
