Walk for Nations

The Walk for Nations, from Miawpukek First Nation, NFLD to Campbell River, BC,  began yesterday, Sunday, May 1, at 6:00 am and will continue until September 1 at 8:00 am.

They have begun a healing journey that will see them walk over 7,000 kms in 8 months from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.

Seven Generations Healing Network (7GEN) and Going M.I.L.E.S. Youth Leadership Program are working networks of Indigenous men and women who have committed their energies, talents, experience and leadership to help rebuild, support, and bring opportunities to communities across Turtle Island.

Micheal Gladue (Founder, 7GEN & Youth Counsellor), Dakota House (Founder, Going M.I.L.E.S), and Ervin Chartrand (Ex Gang Leader/ Filmmaker) will be participating in the journey. They all share similar stories of perseverance through many of life’s challenges that today’s youth can relate to.

Organizers for the walk invite communities across the nation to join them as they walk through their traditional territories.

We are gladly accepting any donations that would assist the walkers during the 8-month journey and donations towards Our 7GEN Urban Youth Safe House Healing Program called "Awasis Nekan Ote”, meaning “Here, The Children Come First” in the Cree language.

The program will be delivered in two phases, an outdoor cultural camp with traditional teachings in the first phase, and for the second phase, hands-on skills training in various industries lead by 7GEN & Going M.I.L.E.S. Mentors.
